Return to Riverrun
On January 9, 2021, the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, Massachusetts, opened Return to Riverrun. A celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of John Brook's book A Long the Riverrun and the first major exhibition of John Brook's photographs in many years, the show is on view through February 14.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum is presenting two online panel discussions via Zoom:
Sunday, January 31, 2021 — 4 pm EST
Panelists: Lou Jones, Gary Samson, Jessica Roscio, Thom Adams, and Griffin Staff.
•The panelists will discuss Brook’s photography in context of the American culture, commercial portraiture, art history, his influence on the emerging Boston photographic community, and his fame as a nationally acclaimed photographer whose stunning imagery and message is being rekindled.
Sunday, February 14, 2021 — 4 pm EST
Panelists: Szari Bourque, Jean Gibran, Pat Nelson, David Herwaldt, Thom Adams, and Griffin Staff.
•The panelists will share memories of Brook as an artist and a friend, as well as of the contemporaneous Boston photo scene.
Tickets are available through the museum website at a cost of $10 for the public but free for Griffin members.
Despite the pandemic, the Museum is open to the public with reduced capacity by appointment. For more information, visit the museum website:

As a tantalizing foretaste of Return to Riverrun for those planning to visit the Griffin, or as consolation to those who wish they could see the show but cannot, here is a slideshow of Archive team member Gary Samson’s photographs of the installation.
