In the portion of A.D. Coleman's article presented here, he attends to two publications: first a Friends of Photography portfolio, Discovery: Inner and Outer Worlds; and, second, John Brook’s book A Long the Riverrun.

Comprised of fifteen duotone reproductions, the portfolio included a John Brook photograph along with one photograph each by fellow Bostonians Marie Cosindas and Paul Caponigro.

Despite the inclusion of one of his pictures in a Friends of Photography portfolio, Brook, a “non-joiner” enjoyed mocking the organization founded in 1967 by Ansel Adams and others to promote fine art photography. He renamed it The Fiends of Photography and fancifully relocated it from Carmel to Caramel, California.
